    INDIANA WILL HOST LOUISIANA TECH

    GAME DATA: Indiana will host a doubleheader with Louisiana Tech on Thursday, April 20 at the IU Softball Field. Game one will begin at 2:00 p.m.

    LOUISIANA TECH: Louisiana Tech is currently 18-18 overall after losing two games to Louisiana State in a double-header on April 11. The Lady Techsters are led by Tonya Pitts who currently posts a .337 batting average. On the mound, Jessica Schott has a team-leading 3.28 ERA and holds a 5-8 record. Marla Pinkston is 10-10 on the mound with a 4.17 ERA. The Series: Louisiana Tech leads the series 8-7 after the Techsters defeated the Hoosiers 6-2 in the South Florida Classic in 1995.

    WEEKLY UPDATE: Over the weekend, Indiana went 1-3 against Big Ten opponents. The Hoosiers lost two games to Iowa on Friday 1-6 and 1-4. On Saturday, Indiana fell 3-4 to Northwestern before defeating the Wildcats 5-4 on Sunday. Sophomore Brooke Monroe went 4-13 (.308) hitting her third homerun of the season during the Iowa game on Friday. Senior Staci Meek hit 5-12 (4.17) and is currently on a five game hitting streak.

    FREE WEEKEND: Indiana will have the weekend off from Big Ten competition. After the game on Thursday with the Lady Techsters, Indiana will have eight days to prepare for its double-header at Minnesota on Friday, April 28.

    CLIMBING THE CHARTS: Senior Teresa Martinez is now in fourth place on the three all-time career lists with 72 complete games, 81 games started, and 594.5 innings pitched.

    SAVKO GOES YARD: Senior Sheri Savko has been powerful at the plate. Overall, Savko has an average of .280 and has hit a team high five homeruns this season. Savko also leads the team in multiple hit games (6), runs scored (19), total bases (55), hits (30), stolen bases (11), and slugging percentage (.514).

    ABOVE .300 IN THE BIG TEN: Seniors Teresa Martinez and Staci Meek are hitting .333 during the Big Ten season. Martinez is 5-15 at the plate with a double and six total bases. Meek is 11-33 with one RBI and has scored five runs. Meek is currently on a five game a winning streak.

    WALK OF LIFE: Freshman Stormy Hanson currently leads the Hoosiers with 16 bases on balls for the season. Hanson posts a .255 batting average and is third on the team with 26 hits.

    SO CLOSE YET SO FAR: Indiana has posted a 13-28 record thus far in the season. Of those 28 losses, 10 of them were decided by only one run.

    FIGHTING THE RANKS: Indiana has played eight games against ranked teams this season and lost by only one run in three of those games. Indiana is currently 0-8 against ranked teams this season.

    THE COACHES: Diane Stephenson begins her 13th season as head coach for the Hoosiers. She has produced winning records in seven of her 12 seasons. Stephenson has accumulated a 370-331-3 (.528) career record, including a 153-158 (.492) record in Big Ten play. Her team made the NCAA Mideast Regional in 1994 and finished with a record of 49-16.

    Assisting Stephenson will be Donna Bonebrake, now in her 5th season, and newcomer Jen McIntyre. McIntyre comes to Indiana from Penn State where she played third base for the Nittany Lions.
