    INDIANA SURPRISES IOWA LATE

    Bloomington, Ind.--Indiana (10-29-1, 4-14) came from behind to beat No. 22 Iowa (28-12, 9-5) today at the IU Softball Field 6-5.

    Down 5-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Indiana rallied back to take the game from the Hawkeyes. With two lead off walks by Hawkeyes pitcher Debbie Bilbao, she intentionally walked Monica Armendarez to load the bases. On the next play, Trina Valencia tripled to right field to score all three runners. With the score tied and no outs, Iowa changed pitchers and brought in Leticia Castellon. She walked Monica Zahasky and Jen Pullon, and Teresa Martinez reached on a fielder's choice, but Valencia was out at home.

    With one out, Erica Del Toro struck out which brought up Staci Meek. Meek singled to bring home the game-winning run for Indiana. The final score was 6-5.

    To start the game, Iowa scored three runs in the first inning off two doubles. They brought one home in the sixth and one more in the seventh to take a convincing 5-2 lead.

    Indiana had some offense in the fifth from senior Monica Armendarez who clocked a two-run homer in the only at -bat she had. She was intentionally walked six out of ten at-bats during the weekend series.

    Teresa Martinez grabbed the win moving up to 7-14 overall with a 2.52 ERA. She earned her 15th complete game giving up nine hits, five runs while striking out two.

    Iowa pitcher Castellon dropped to 9-5 giving up the winning run.

    Indiana will be back in action this week traveling to Indiana State. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
