    Game Notes

    FIRST PITCH
Indiana is coming off a pair of tough losses at No. 19 Ohio State on Wednesday. The Hoosiers were only able to muster an infield single in the first game, but rebounded to put three runs on the board in game two, thanks to a two-run home run from freshman Amanda Wagner. Junior Cassie Gogreve drove in the other run to increase her team-leading total to 21 runs driven in.

Northwestern is coming off a 3-2 loss at the hands of Loyola (Chicago) on Thursday. In the game, Kelly Dyer extended her torrid hitting streak to 7-for-8 in the last three games.

    SLUMP BUSTER
Freshman Amanda Wagner connected for a two-run home run to right field in the second game of a doubleheader at Ohio State on Wednesday, breaking a 1-for-22 slump at the plate. The round-tripper was her fifth of the season to take over sole possession of second place on the team in that category. Through her first 18 games, Wagner had four home runs but had struggled at the plate until Wednesday.

    LUCKY NUMBER 7
After winning the first game against Minnesota by a score of 1-0, Indiana came out the next day looking determined at the plate. They quickly put seven runs on the board in the top of the first inning, the most runs scored in an inning this season. The last time Indiana scored seven runs in an inning was April 1, 2008, when they did it in the fourth inning at Kentucky as part of a 16-13 victory.

TWICE AS NICE IN THE TWIN CITIES
Over the last 15 seasons, the Minnesota Golden Gophers have had the Hoosiers number every year it seemed. Starting with the 1995 season, Indiana was just 5-27 and had not claimed victory since 2004. Going back even further, Indiana had not swept a season series with Minnesota since the 1994 season. It should be noted that the Big Ten moved to two games versus each conference foe at the start of the 2000 season. Prior to that it was three games against each team and at one point it was even four games against each team.

    B-SAUCE
Freshman Breanna Saucedo was the straw that stirred the drink for the Hoosiers at the plate in Mississippi and has continued that for most of the year. She leads the team with 44 hits and is the team leader with 22 runs scored. She has yet to go back-to-back games without getting a hit this season and had an eight-game hit streak snapped in the first game at Minnesota. She did come back in the the second game against the Golden Gophers with a two-run single.

She has a trio of three-hit games to her credit this season, including a three-hit effort against Belmont where she also scored three runs, and seven two-hit games, both of which are tops on the team. Saucedo is also a perfect 12-for-12 in stolen base attempts and has 4 in the last 5 games.
