    FIRST PITCH
The streak continued last weekend as the Hoosiers took a pair of contests at Michigan State to improve to 30-15 overall and 10-2 in the Big Ten and extend to a 10-game winning streak. On Saturday, Morgan Melloh had 11 strikeouts and the Hoosiers were able to overcome five errors to defeat the Spartants by a score of 7-2. Amanda Wagner hit a two run homer and Melloh drilled a solo home run to provide the offense. In Sunday's game, the Hoosiers scored two runs early on solo home runs by Jenna Abraham and Cassie Gogreve. The next inning Melloh laced a two-run double that proved to be the difference in the Hoosiers 4-2 win.

    FAST NOTES
Sara Olson has reached base in 23 of her last 29 plate appearances in Big Ten play
    • Olson's .583 batting avg. is the second-best in Big Ten play and her .762 on-base percentage is the best
Morgan Melloh leads the NCAA with 397 strikeouts and is 9th on the NCAA Career Strikeout List with 1535
    • With three strikeouts, she would be first IU pitcher to ever record 400 strikeouts in a single season
    • She became the IU single-season strikeout leader with 14 strikeouts against Ball State to give her 375 this year
Jessica Dobson got the start at pitcher against Indiana State, ending a string of 75.1 straight innings pitched by Melloh
    • Since the start of the IU Classic, the Hoosiers are 18-3 overall and 13-1 at home
Cassie Gogreve has thrown out 12-of-42 attempted base stealers this season (23 last year to lead BCS catchers)
    • IU is 9-5 in one-run games
    • The Hoosiers are 10-0 when they score a run in the first inning this season
    • When Indiana scores three or more runs, they are 24-2

FAST NOTES DURING 10-GAME WIN STREAK
Amanda Wagner is hitting .364 with four home runs and 13 RBI during the 10-game win streak
    • The Hoosiers have outscored their opponents, 45-14, during the current win streak
    • Indiana has had to come-from-behind to win five of the 10 games during the streak
    • Melloh is 9-0 with nine complete games and a 1.07 ERA to go with a save in the only game she didn't start
    • Opponents are hitting just .152 against IU pitching during the streak
    • Melloh is averaging 12.1 strikeouts per 7 IP during the streak
    • Five different Hoosiers have hit home runs during the streak and 10 different players have at least one RBI

    WAGS IS HERE
Sophomore utility infielder Amanda Wagner was another Hoosier that had produced at the plate last year but was still looking to find her swing in 2011. Over the 10-game win streak, Wagner is hitting .364 with four home runs and 13 RBI and has not struck out in 22 at-bats. Over the first 37 games of the season, Wagner was hitting just .121 with 23 strikeouts in 59 at-bats.

It all started with a pinch-hit RBI single at Penn State in the seventh inning to give the Hoosiers a 1-0 victory. The next time out in a double header against Ohio State, Wagner deposited a pitch well beyond the left field fence for her first home run of the season. In game two of the doubleheader, the right-handed slugger clubbed an opposite field homer to aid the Hoosiers 9-0 win in five innings. And then the following day against Indiana State, she laced a double down the right field line to plate a pair of insurance runs in the Hoosiers 5-2 win. Last weekend against Michigan State, she capped off a big inning for the Hoosiers with a two-run home run.

    MORGAN MOWS `EM DOWN
Senior pitcher Morgan Melloh has started her Indiana career just as she did her Fresno State career - by being a workhorse in the circle and registering strikeout after strikeout. She has 30 complete games to her credit and 253.1 innings pitched to go with a Big Ten-best 397 strikeouts. She recently broke the Indiana single-season striekout record with 14 K's against Ball State (April 20) to give her 375 at the time, breaking Amy Unterbrink's mark of 370 set during the 1986 season.

The three-time Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, Melloh has 22 games with 10+ strikeouts, led by a 21 strikeout performance in the first game against Wisconsin in eight innings to set a new career high. She has also posted 17 strikeouts againt Butler and 14 strikeouts against then-No. 4 Florida. For the season, she is averaging 10.9 strikeouts per seven innings pitched.

Melloh's career total of 1535 strikeouts puts her in ninth place on the NCAA career strikeout list. See page 2 of these game notes for a more in-depth look at Melloh's career by the numbers and where she could end up by the end of this season.

    STREAKS
Indiana enters play Wednesday riding a 10-game winning streak following a weekend sweep at Michigan State.

The 10-game win streak is the longest since a perfect 10-0 start to Big Ten play during the 1994 season. The Hoosiers also had a six-game win streak earlier this season after winning four games at the IU Classic and then taking both games of a doubleheader from Butler.

The nine-game win streak in conference play is the longest since a 10-0 start to Big Ten play in 1994. The 10-2 record in Big Ten action is also the best start to the conference season since that 1994 season, also 10-2.
