April 29, 2000 INDIANA LOSES 5-2 TO WISCONSIN
MADISON, Wis.: The Indiana Softball team lost 5-2 to Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon at Goodman Diamond. The Hoosiers are now 14-30 overall and 4-11 in the Big Ten while Wisconsin improves to 29-22 overall and 6-6 in Big Ten play.
The Badgers got off to a quick start scoring one run in the first inning when Jade Gosse scored on an error by Stormy Hanson. In the top of the fourth, sophomore Brooke Monroe hit a homerun (her fourth of the season) to tie the game at 1-1. Wisconsin took control of the game as they scored one run in the bottom of the fourth and three runs in the fifth inning to take a commanding 5-1 lead. Indiana scored their second run when an error by the shortstop brought in Monique Bullock.
Monroe went 1-for-2 on the afternoon while Hanson went 2-for-3. Senior Teresa Martinez drops to 6-16 with the loss after allowing only two earned runs on the afternoon.
The Hoosiers will be back in action tomorrow, April 30, as they play
the second game of the Wisconsin series at 1:00 p.m. at Goodman Diamond.
