IU Bested by OSU
COLUMBUS, Ohio. - A pair of OSU runs in the second and fourth was too much for the Hoosiers to overcome, as the Indiana softball team was bested by Ohio State, 4-0, on a cold and blustery Friday night at Buckeye Field. With the loss, IU falls to 13-36, 2-13 in the Big Ten, while the Buckeyes improved to 25-14, 5-6 in the conference.
Bogado (2-8) went the first 4 ¼ innings, giving up four runs, one earned, on two hits. She also struck out five and did not walk a batter. Junior Megan Roark tossed the final 1 2/3 innings, yielding just one hit and a walk against two punchouts.
Ohio State plated its first two runs in the second. After OSU's Jamee Juarez reached on an error, Billie Jo Carder took a 1-2 pitch from Bogado over the left-field wall, giving the Buckeyes an early 2-0 advantage.
OSU put together another two-run spot in the fifth. RBI singles by Nycole Koyano and Chelsea Baker put the home team out in front, 4-0.
Juarez (19-10) earned the win in throwing her 17th complete game of the year. The right-hander scattered four hits while fanning two.
Indiana and Ohio State will conclude the two-game series tomorrow. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
