April 30, 2000 INDIANA LOSES 9-0 TO WISCONSIN
MADISON, Wis.: The Indiana Softball team lost 9-0 in five innings to Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon at Goodman Diamond. The Hoosiers are now 14-31 overall and 4-12 in the Big Ten while Wisconsin improves to 30-22 overall and 7-6 in Big Ten play.
Wisconsin scored early with four runs in first inning and then another two runs in the second inning. Senior pitcher Teresa Martinez held the Badgers in the third inning, but allowed another three runs to score in the fourth. Junior Jenny Smith replaced Martinez on the mound in the fifth inning and shut down the Badgers in the final inning of play.
Sophomore Brooke Monroe went 2-for-2 with a double for Indiana while Lisa Mattke, Lauren Hendrix, and Stormy Hanson each singled on the afternoon. Martinez takes the loss on the mound and falls to 6-17. Martinez struck out two and only walked one, but allowed six earned runs.
The Hoosiers will be back in action Saturday, May 6 as they host Purdue for a single game at 3:00 p.m. at the IU Softball Field.
