COLUMBUS, Ohio - A two-run sixth was the culprit as the Indiana softball team was edged by Ohio State, 3-2, on a cold and windy Saturday afternoon at Buckeye Field.

Down 1-0 heading into the third, the Hoosiers (13-37, 2-14 Big Ten) staged a two-out rally to take a 2-1 lead. Sophomore Kim Richards got IU going by working out a walk. Redshirt sophomore Tory Yamaguchi then crushed her 10th home run of the season, and 20th of her career, sending a 1-1 pitch over the left-center field wall.

The Buckeyes (26-14, 6-6) came back, though, with two runs in the sixth, to take a 3-2 advantage. OSU's runs came on a solo home run by Karisa Evans and a wild pitch, which allowed Chelsea Baker to score.

Junior Megan Roark (9-21) was solid in the circle, but took the loss for IU. The Pleasant Hills, Calif., native went 5 1/3 innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on six hits. She also struck out three. Junior Mariangee Bogado, who made her first start of the season at shortstop, tossed a scoreless 1 2/3 innings in relief.

Jamee Juarez (20-10) notched the victory for the second straight day. The right-hander allowed just two runs on two hits. She also walked three and struck out nine

Yamaguchi ended the day 1-for-3 with a homer and two RBI. Sophomore Heather Hohs also was 1-for-3 in the game.

Indiana will finish the weekend with a trip to University Park, Pa., on Sunday for a doubleheader at Penn State. The twinbill is set to start at noon (EDT).
