GAME DATA: Indiana will host Purdue at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 6 at the IU Softball Field. The Hoosiers will then travel to West Lafayette on Sunday, May 7 for the second game of the series beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Purdue Varsity Softball Complex.
PURDUE: The Boilermakers are currently 32-25 overall and 5-9 in the Big Ten. Sophomore Katie Crabtree leads Purdue with a .333 batting average, 11 homeruns, and 32 RBI. On the mound, sophomore Meagan Dooley posts a team-high 0.66 ERA with a record of 11-9. The series: Indiana leads the series 18-13 after the Boilermakers swept the Hoosiers in a doubleheader on April 21, 1999. Website: www.purduesports.com
WEEKLY UPDATE: The Hoosiers went 1-3 on the road as they split a doubleheader with Minnesota before dropping two games to Wisconsin. Sophomore Brooke Monroe hit .455 (5-11) over the weekend with one homerun, two doubles, one RBI, and one run scored. Freshman short-stop Lauren Hendrix hit .500 (6-12) in the last four games with two RBI, one double and one run scored.
SENIOR SALUTE: Trish Boyd, Teresa Martinez, Staci Meek, Sheri Savko and Monica Zahasky will be honored after the game on Saturday, May 6 for their achievements during their careers at Indiana.
GRAND SLAM: Senior Staci Meek hit her first career grand slam against Minnesota on Friday, April 28. Meek's shot came in the bottom of the fifth inning and put the Hoosiers on top 5-3. Indiana went on to defeat Minnesota 7-4.
CLIMBING THE CHARTS: Senior Teresa Martinez is now in fourth place on the three all-time career lists with 74 complete games, 84 games started, and 612.5 innings pitched.
SAVKO GOES YARD: Senior Sheri Savko has been powerful at the plate. Overall, Savko has an average of .271 and has hit a team high five homeruns this season. Savko also leads the team in multiple hit games (7), runs scored (22), total bases (57), hits (32), and stolen bases (11).
WALK OF LIFE: Freshman Stormy Hanson currently leads the Hoosiers with 16 bases on balls for the season. Hanson posts a .257 batting average and is fourth on the team with 29 hits.
SO CLOSE YET SO FAR: Indiana has posted a 14-31 record thus far in the season. Of those 31 losses, only one run decided 11 of them.
FIGHTING THE RANKS: Indiana has played eight games against ranked teams this season and lost by only one run in three of those games. Indiana is currently 0-8 against ranked teams this season.

THE COACHES: Diane Stephenson begins her 13th season as head coach for the Hoosiers. She has produced winning records in seven of her 12 seasons. Stephenson has accumulated a 372-334-3 (.527) career record, including a 154-161 (.489) record in Big Ten play. Her team made the NCAA Mideast Regional in 1994 and finished with a record of 49-16.
Assisting Stephenson will be Donna Bonebrake, now in her 5th season, and newcomer Jen McIntyre. McIntyre comes to Indiana from Penn State where she played third base for the Nittany Lions.
COACH'S COMMENTS: "We're really geared up to send the seniors
out on a positive note," said Coach Stephenson. "There's a lot
of positives about playing Purdue on the final weekend. Our biggest goal
is to send our seniors out as winner."
