BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - A pair of Indiana seniors, Morgan Melloh and Sara Olson, continued to rake in the awards on Thursday, this time being named to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Midwest Region First Team. It is the third first team all-region selection for Melloh and the first for Olson.

Melloh is 32-15 in the circle this season with a 1.62 ERA and has led the Hoosiers to their first postseason appearance since 2006. She has appeared in 50 of the 53 games this year for the Hoosiers and has 38 complete games. On Wednesday, she was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Year and holds the single-season strikeout record for both the Big Ten Conference as well as Indiana University. She is second in the NCAA this season with 477 strikeouts and it one of just five players in NCAA history to record 450-plus strikeouts in three of four seasons during their college career.

Olson led the Hoosiers with a .338 batting average while clubbing nine doubles, eight home runs and driving in 34. She was among the Big Ten's best with a .497 on-base percentage overall and that number went up to .667 in conference games. She was named First Team All-Big Ten on Wednesday after hitting .425 in conference games with three home runs and 14 RBI. Olson is tied for fifth on the IU career home run list with 25 and is tied for sixth on the career RBI list with 94.

Both players are now eligible to be named All-Americans, which will be announced on May 30.

In 2006, Mariangee Bogado and Lauren Hines were named first team all-region.
