Softball Signee Named To High School All-American Team
Aug. 14, 2007
The EA Sports High School Softball All-American team was announced recently and Sara Olson, who will be a freshman this season for the Hoosiers, was named to the first team.
Olson, a native of Orland Park, Ill., also garnered all-state honors in Illinois and was named Chicago Metro Player of the Year following her outstanding senior campaign at Sandburg High School. In the spring, she posted a 24-3 record in the circle with a 0.24 ERA with 270 strikeouts in 174.2 innings of work. She also got it done at the plate, batting .425 with 14 home runs and a slugging percentage of .876.
"We are excited for Sara and all the work she put in to earn this award," Indiana head softball coach Stacey Phillips said. "I think the entire incoming freshman class give us reason for excitement to arrive so we can get started on returning Indiana softball to the national scene."
Olson is joined in the incoming freshman class by Brittany Stein (Vancouver, Wash.), Brittany Devitt (Seabeck, Wash.), Karmen Delcamp (Goshen, Ind.) and Alyssa Maiese (Sewell, N.J.).
