BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Former Indiana softball standout Mariangee Bogado led the Venezuelan National Team to a title at the 20th-annual Central American and Caribbean Games held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, July 15-30.

"Mariangee is at the top of her game," head coach Stacey Phillips said. "She is following a phenomenal senior year with some great international play. She is representing her country of Venezuela to the greatest extent, much like she represented Indiana University with that same poise. It has been exciting to hear from her on how well the team is playing. She takes great pride in her talent for her country as she should, and we are very proud of her and her accomplishments. I look forward to hearing from her about the World-Wide Championships of China."

Bogado pitched in six games for Venezuela, including a pair of 15-inning contests. The first-place finish qualified the Venezuelan squad for the World-Wide Championships of China, Aug. 28-Sept 5. The 16-team tournament will serve as the qualifier tournament for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
