    Open Fall Play With 0-0 Tie

    Orland Park, Ill. - The Indiana University softball team tied its first game of the Chicagoland Fall Classic 0-0 with Western Illinois in seven innings on Friday evening at Centennial Park.

    "We played really strong defense and Megan Roark pitched an amazing game," said interim head coach Stacey Phillips. "We made no errors, but just couldn't get a run across."

    Roark finished the game with 12 strikeouts, while allowing six hits and zero runs scored.

    Juniors Tory Yamaguchi and Lauren Hines, along with freshman Jessica Vargo each had a hit for the Hoosiers. Hines also drew a walk.

    IU committed no errors, to one by Western Illinois.

    The Hoosiers will return to action on Saturday morning against Northern Iowa at 9 a.m. and Northern Illinois at 11 a.m. IU will conclude the three-day tournament on Sunday with a pair of game against Illinois State and Bradley slated for 10 a.m. and noon.
