Hoosiers Close Chicagoland Fall Classic with a Win

ORLAND PARK, Ill. - The Indiana softball team closed the Chicagoland Fall Classic on Sept. 18 in Orland Park, Ill., with a 3-0 shutout against South Dakota State. Newcomer Monica Wright threw an entire game for the Hoosiers in the win.
The Hoosiers, who rebounded after a loss to Illinois State in the first game of the day, struck early, plating all three runs in the first inning. Sophomore Julie DiNallo led IU with a two-RBI single to help Indiana to the early lead.
Wright, who pitched in over 80 percent of Indiana's games in the tournament, tossed a complete game against Southern Illinois in the shutout victory.
Up next on the Hoosiers' fall slate is the Indiana State Fall Tournament on Sept. 24. IU will take on three in-state opponents at the one-day tournament in Terre Haute, Ind.
Indiana will face IUPUI in the opening game of the tournament. The Hoosiers and the Jaguars will square off at 11:45 a.m., before taking on host Indiana State at 1:30 a.m. IU will close the tournament with the University of Indianapolis at 5:15 p.m.
