Hoosiers to Close Fall Slate at Indiana Fall Classic Oct. 1
Sept. 28, 2006
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana softball team, fresh off an NCAA Tournament appearance last season, closes the fall slate at home on Oct. 1. The Hoosiers will host Indiana State and IUPUI at the annual Indiana Fall Classic. Action begins at 10 a.m. (ET) at the IU Softball Field.
Indiana will open play against Indiana State at 10 a.m., before taking on IUPUI at noon. ISU and IUPUI will meet at 2 p.m.
"I think throughout fall ball, we always look to grasp those things we need to work on to improve for the spring season, and that will be no different for this tournament," Indiana head coach Stacey Phillips said. "Playing at home will be a huge advantage and having a home crowd is going to feel great. We have a lot of young players who haven't played a game on IU's field and it will be a good experience for them. This last day of fall play is going to be a celebration of a lot of hard work this off season."
Fans are encouraged to visit the table behind the home dugout throughout the day for a chance to win a pair of 2006-07 women's basketball season tickets. Additionally, every time a Hoosier scores a run or an Indiana pitcher records a strikeout, t-shirts will be tossed into the stands to the loudest IU fans.
