    HOOSIERS TO PLAY IN JAGUARS INVITATIONAL

    Game Data: The Indiana University softball team will compete in the Jaguars Invitational on Saturday, October 2 and Sunday, October 3. IUPUI will host the two day tournament this weekend. The Hoosiers will play three games on Saturday starting with Ball State at 11:00 a.m. They will then play Butler at 3:30 p.m. and Indiana State at 5:45 p.m. On Sunday, Indiana will play two games beginning with Evansville at 12:15 p.m. and then IUPUI at 2:30 p.m.

    The Coaches: Diane Stephenson begins her 13th season as the Indiana head coach, with winning records in seven of her 12 seasons. Stephenson has accumulated a 358-303-3 career record, including a 150-149 (.502) record in Big Ten play. Her team made the NCAA Mideast Regional in 1994 and finished with a record of 49-16. Stephenson is assisted by Donna Bonebrake and Jen McIntyre. Coach Bonebrake begins her fifth season with the Hoosiers and Coach McIntyre is in her first season.

    The Teams: Teams attending the tournament this weekend are Ball State, Butler, Evansville, Indiana State, Indiana University, and IUPUI.

    Ticket Information: There will be no charge for the games this weekend.

    Last Weekend: The Hoosiers went 2-2 last weekend in the NIC Tournament in Moline, Ill. Indiana lost the first two games of the weekend to Illinois State (5 to 4) and Iowa State (4 to 2). The Hoosiers then recovered to win the next two over Drake (5 to 1) and Western Illinois (4 to 3). Senior Teresa Martinez and Freshman Lisa Mattke earned all-tournament honors for their efforts over the weekend.
