INDIANA SOFTBALL FINISHES 4-1 IN JAGUARS INVITATIONAL

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Indiana Softball team played five games in the Jaguars Invitational hosted by IUPUI on Saturday and Sunday. The Hoosiers finished the weekend 4-1 with wins over Ball State (7 to3), Buter (7 to 0), Indiana State (7 to 0), and IUPUI (4 to 3). Indiana's only loss on the weekend was to Evansville (1 to 2) on Sunday.

Sherri Sakvo had a big weekend at the plate for the Hoosiers. She drove in three runs in the top of the 7th to tie the game vs IUPUI. Indiana went on to defeat the Jaguars 4 to 3.

"Overall, we're very pleased with our performance over the weekend," said assistant coach Donna Bonebrake. "We came out very flat on Sunday and it showed on the field both mentally and physically. We didn't play as sharply as we had been. We lost to Evansville on a couple of errors and the inability to get the bunt down. Then we struggled to come back and beat IUPUI, but that was an exciting finish coming back in the top of the 7th. But overall, I think all the kids did a really good job, and we're pleased with where we are right now."

The Hoosiers will be back in action on Saturday October 16 as they host a double-header vs. Louisville at the IU Softball Field.
