BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana interim head softball coach Stacey Phillips has announced the team's 2005 spring schedule. The slate is highlighted by games against three teams that reached the 2004 College World Series, five that finished in the top-25 and 12 that qualified for the 2004 NCAA Tournament. The Hoosiers also have a 20-game slate of Big Ten match-ups.

The Hoosiers will begin their season with five tournaments on the road before hosting the IU Classic on March 20.

The opening tourney will be at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas Kick-Off Classic on Feb. 4-6. The Classic will be followed by tournaments at 2004 College World Series participant LSU (Feb. 18-20) and at Tulsa (Feb. 25-27).

Additionally the final invites will be at Western Kentucky on Mar. 4-6 and at Long Beach State on Mar. 11-13. The LBS Tournament features contests against Oklahoma, who reached last year's World Series, and a trio of 2004 NCAA tournament teams in Long Beach State, Florida, and Cal-State Northridge.

The Hoosiers will open their home slate of games with the IU Classic against Loyola-Chicago and IPFW. IU will then play three more non-conference games against Ball State (Mar. 22), at Indiana State (Mar. 23) and against Illinois-Chicago (Mar. 30).

IU will begin Big Ten play at home against conference tournament champion Michigan State on Apr. 1 and 2. A non-conference tilt at Louisville is scheduled for Apr. 6, before a pair of games at Illinois on Apr. 8-9 and a doubleheader at Iowa on Apr. 10.

The Cream and Crimson then will return home for six-straight home games starting with a twinbill against Kentucky on Apr. 13. That double-dip will be followed by back-to-back games against Northwestern (Apr. 15-16) and a doubleheader against Big Ten regular-season champion and College World Series participant Michigan (Apr. 17).

The Hoosiers travel to Missouri for a doubleheader on Apr. 20 and will then host Minnesota (Apr. 22-23) and Wisconsin (Apr. 24) for a twinbill.

The final non-conference game of the year will be Evansville on Apr. 26.

IU will travel to Ohio State (Apr. 29-30) and Penn State for a doubleheader (May 1) before finishing up its regular season docket with a home-and-home series against Purdue. The Hoosiers travel to West Lafayette on May 7 and host the Boilermakers for Senior Day on May 8.

The Big Ten Tournament is slated for May 12-14 at the site of the regular season champion.
