    IU Softball Inks Seven During Early Signing Period

    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University Softball Head Coach Michelle Gardner announced the signing of seven student-athletes to the 2012 signing class and will be freshmen for the 2012-13 academic year.

    The class includes Brooke Boetjer (Fillmore, Ind.), Katie Bosler (Carmel, Ind.), Katelyn Conenna (Addison, Ill.), Kelsey Dotson (Silver Lake, Ind.), Kassi Farmer (Columbia, Ill.), Michelle Huber (Carmel, Ind.) and Lexi Reese (Lebanon, Ind.)

    "I am thrilled to announce this 2012 signing class for many different reasons," Gardner said as she prepares to enter her fourth year at Indiana. "One reason being all of our signees have had extensive travel ball experience and have competed against the highest level of competition across the country. This is a great young group coming in, both academically and athletically, and I'm excited to have them as Hoosiers."

    Here is a look at each of the signees:


    Brook Boetjer
    Fillmore, Ind. • South Putnam High School

    Plays for head coach Chris Jones at South Putnam (Ind.) High School ... is a three-time recipient of Greencastle's Banner Graphic Player of the Year award ... was named a 2011 IHSAA All-State player ... has been named an all-conference performer each of her three seasons so far and has lead South Putnam to three consecutive conference titles ... led South Putnam to its first-ever 2A Girls State Championship ... hit .474 as a junior with six home runs ... also drove in 26 and collected 10 doubles ... as a pitcher, she was 21-1 and registered 184 strikeouts on her way to 0.45 ERA ... as a sophomore, she posted 149 strikeouts and had an ERA of 0.60 ... also hit .444 with 26 RBI ... had five triples and eight doubles ... came in as a freshman and went 12-1 and had an ERA of 0.39 ... posted five doubles, four home runs and 25 RBI at the plate ... played travelball for the Indiana Shockwaves and head coach Troy Werner ... won three consecutive ASA state titles ... has claimed thee top 10 finishes at USA/ASA Nationals ... has also earned varsity letters in volleyball, basketball and swimming ... is the daughter of Douglas and Michelle Boetjer ... has two siblings, Coledon and Oceaia.



    Katie Bosler
    Carmel, Ind. • Carmel High School

    Plays for head coach Emily Good at Carmel (Ind.) High School ... plays at Carmel with another 2012 IU signee, Michelle Huber ... is a three-year letterwinner ... has been named an all-conference selection each of the past two seasons ... also a all-county honoree for two seasons and All-North Honorable Mention ... hit .344 as a junior while leading Carmel to the 4A State Championship ... posted a robust .427 avearge as a sophomore ... played travelball for Indiana Magic Gold for head coach Kim Clay ... placed 17th at the 18U Gold Nationals in 2011 with the Indy Dreams Gold ... also claimed the 2007 NSA 14U national championship ... also named a scholar-athlete ... is the daughter of Greg and Paula Bosler ... has one brother, Matt, who is a junior at Indiana University  

     

         



    Katelyn Conenna
    Addison, Ill. • Immaculate Conception High School

    Plays for head coach Frank Reaber at Immaculate Conception (Ill.) High School ... helped ICHS to back-to-back conference championships for the first time in school history ... hit .548 as a junior to set the school record in addition to driving in 37 RBI ... was named the conference player of the year ... A three-time Daily Herald All-Area Honorable Mention ... also twice named to Pioneer Press All-Area team ... posted a .535 average at the plate and drove in 47 runs as a sophomore to set a school record ... named to all-conference team and was Third Team All-State ... played her freshman year at Driscoll Catholic High School before the school was closed following the year ... hit .430 and collected 42 RBI as a freshman ... led Driscoll Catholic to the 2009 IHSA 2A state basketball title ... a three-time selection to the academic honor roll ... played travelball for DuPage Diamond Dawgs, where her father, Dominic, was the head coach ... the team placed 25th at 2011 ASA Northern Nationals ... finished the 2009 season tied for ninth at USSSA Nationals and she was named to the All-Tournament team ... is the daughter of Dominic and Julie Conenna ... has a sister, Jessica, and a brother, Nicholas      

     



    Kelsey Dotson
    Silver Lake, Ind. • Warsaw Community High School

    Plays for head coach Jim Speicher at Warsaw (Ind.) Community High School ... hit .574 as a junior and blasted 11 home runs and 39 RBI ... set school record for home runs and the fifth-most all-time in the state of Indiana ... named First Team All-State ... team broke the Indiana state record for home runs with 33 ... received the team MVP award each of her three seasons while also being named all-conference each season ... hit .605 as a sophomore with seven home runs and 35 RBI on her way to being named Third Team All-State ... registered a .431 batting average as freshman while hitting five home runs and plating 26 runs ... played travelball for the Indiana Shockwaves '93 for head coach Troy Werner ... team placed fifth at ASA "A" nationals in 2011 ... is the daughter of Jeff and Brenda Dotson ... has one sister, Kayley.

     

         



    Kassi Farmer
    Columbia, Ill. • Columbia High School
    Plays for head coach Rhonda Major at Columbia (Ill.) High School ... hit .464 with 12 home runs and 45 RBI as a junior ... received Third Team All-State accolades in addition to first team all-conference and all-area ... team has won three consecutive conference titles ... also won the 2011 regional championship ... as a sophomore, she hit .391 with four home runs and 24 RBI while being named second team all-area ... came in as a freshman and hit .375 with three home runs and 22 RBI ... received first team all-conference and second team all-area honors ... garnered the team's Best Offensive Player award ... played travelball for Beverly Bandits and head coach Bill Conroy ... was a member of the Colorado Tournament championship team with the Southern Force ... the daughter of Alan and Kari Farmer ... has a sister, Kalli, and a brother, Korbin.  

     

     

     



    Michelle Huber
    Carmel, Ind. • Carmel High School

    Plays for head coach Emily Good at Carmel (Ind.) High School ... is teammates with Katie Bosler, another signee in the 2012 class for IU ... hit .357 as a junior with five home runs and 27 RBI ... was named all-conference, all-county and All-North Indianapolis ... helped lead Carmel to the 4A State Championship with a 28-2 record ... posted a .382 batting average as a sophomore and was named All-North Indianapolis Honorable Mention ... team won the conference title while registering a 24-3 record ... played travelball for Team Indiana Gold and head coach Jeanne Rayman ... team placed 25th at the 2011 ASA/USA Nationals ... is the daughter of Steve and Martha Huber ... has one sister, Maria, who is a sophomore at IU ... her father also played baseball at the collegiate level.        

     

     

     



    Lexi Reese
    Lebanon, Ind. • Lebanon High School

    Plays for head coach Steve Smith at Lebanon (Ind.) High School ... is a three-time First Team All-Conference selection ... hit .506 with 42 RBI as a junior at Lebanon ... named the Defensive Player of the Year ... won conference titles as a sophomore and junior ... played travelball for Indy Dreams '94 for her father and head coach Chris Reese ... won the 2008 NSA National Championship and multiple state championships and is now playing for the Indiana Shockwaves '93 coached by Troy Werner, the team placed fifth at ASA "A" nationals in 2011... is the daughter of Chris Reese and SusAnne Castetter ... has two sisters, Gabrielle and Caroline, and one brother, J.C.
