    JUNIOR YEAR (2008-09)

    Swam the 100 backstroke (19th- 53.02) and 200 individual medley (32nd- 1:58.95) at the 2009 NCAA Championships ... earned All-America honors as a member of the 400 medley relay (11th- 3:32.96), 200 medley relay (14th- 1:38.69) and 800 free relay (11th- 7:08.32) ... took third in the 200 individual medley at the Big Ten Championships with a personal best of 1:58.31 ... also third in the 100 fly with a time of 53.05 ... that is a personal best and the fifth-fastest time in school history ... swam the butterfly leg on the 400 medley relay which won the Big Ten title with a conference record time of 3:31.26 ... took 10th in the 100 free (50.03) ... posted an NCAA B cut of 54.13 in the 100 back at a last chance meet ... took second in the 100 free and the 100 fly at the Hoosierland Invite ... was victorious in the 100 free in a dual meet with Ohio State and Missouri ... 10th in the 100 fly at the 2008 U.S. Short Course Nationals in December.

    SOPHOMORE YEAR (2007-08)

    Competed at the NCAA Championships in the 200-yard individual medley (41st) and 100-yard butterfly (39th), 100-yard freestyle (52nd), and 800-yard freestyle relay (20th) ... was twice named an All-American after swimming on the record-setting 400-yard medley relay team, which placed sixth in a time of 3:34.14, and the 200-yard medley relay team which finished eighth ... fifth in the 200-yard individual medley at the Big Ten Championships ...school record time of 1:59.69 came in the prelims ... swam the butterfly on the 200-yard medley relay team which took first, tying a Big Ten record with a time of 1:38.89 ... swam a school-record 1:47.18 on the lead-off leg of the 800-yard freestyle relay ... fifth in the 100 butterfly with a career best of 53.69 .. fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (49.66 in prelims- fourth fastest in school history) ... first in 200 free and 100 free in dual with Purdue ... fourth in the 200 free vs. Tennessee ... second in the 100 freestyle and third in the 200 IM ... second in the 100 butterfly at the Irish Invitational ... second in the 100 butterfly in double dual with Texas and Michigan ... first in the 200 IM, second in the 200 free and 100 butterfly in dual at Kentucky ... competed at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials.

    FRESHMAN YEAR (2006-07)
    Scored at the Big Ten Championships, tying for ninth in the 100-yard butterfly ... also finished 34th in the preliminaries of the 200-yard individual medley and 37th in the prelims of the 200-yard butterfly ... won a pair of events, finishing first in the 200-yard medley relay at the Michigan Invitational and in the 100 fly against No. 24 Missouri ... was in the top five for Indiana on the season in the 100 fly, 200 fly and 200 medley relay ... entered Indiana's all-time top 20 in the 100 fly, 200 IM and 200 medley relay on the season ... competed on Indiana's 4x100-meter freestyle (37th) and 4x100-meter medley (38th) relay teams at the 2007 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships.


    PREP/PERSONAL
    Earned All-America status in 2005 and 2006 for Highland High School ... state qualifier all four years ... took all-state honors as a senior with a third-place showing in the 100-yard butterfly ... was 10th in the 100 fly and 200-yard individual medley at the state meet as a junior ... won conference championships in the 200 IM, 100 fly and 400-yard free relay in both her junior and senior years ... won sectional championships in each of those events as a junior ... retained her 100 fly and 400 free relay sectional titles as a senior, and added one in the 200-yard freestyle relay ... earned team MVP honors all four years ... two-year team captain ... was also a standout soccer player for Highland, earning MVP honors in her final two seasons ... earned first-team all-conference recognition during her junior and senior years ... led the area in assists as a junior and was honorable mention all-district ... first-team all-district as a senior ... ran track for Highland, as well ... was a member of the Student Council, Key Club, Prom Committee, National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society and the ASL Club ... daughter of Kaz and Kathy Smailis ... born June 1, 1988.
