Loukas Places Second on 3-Meter at USA Diving Spring Nationals

MINNEAPOLIS - Indiana University junior Christina Loukas wrapped up her stay at the Speedo USA Diving Spring Nationals at University Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn. with a second-place finish on the 3-meter springboard Sunday afternoon.
Loukas tallied a score of 332.90 in the finals, finishing just behind Nancilea Foster who won the national title with a score of 345.15. Also competing in the finals was IU sophomore Brittney Feldman who finished 11th (285.90). Loukas moved up two spots in the finals after entering the day in fourth place.
On Friday, Loukas teamed up with Amanda Miller to take second in the synchronized 3-meter springboard competition. The two were in second after the prelims with a score of 276.00 before going on to post marks totalling 299.10 in the final. Mary Yarrison and Abby Johnston took home the title with a score of 302.10.
Feldman also brings home a third-place finish on the 1-meter springboard.
Divers were vying for spots at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Diving. The top eight divers on 3-meter and 10-meter qualify for the Trials, which will be held June 18-22 in Indianapolis. Additionally, the top three synchronized teams will be invited to an Olympic Team selection camp in Knoxville, Tenn. from July 2-6. Teams for the AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix (Fort Lauderdale, May 8-11) and the FINA Canada Cup (May 1-4) also will be selected following the nationals.
