Jan. 29, 2013
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Coming off a sweep of her individual events in a dual meet victory at Purdue, Indiana University freshman swimmer Brooklynn Snodgrass was named the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week and the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
It is the second Big Ten Swimmer of the Week and third Freshman of the Week honor in Snodgrass' young IU career.
Snodgrass posted wins in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 200 individual medley and 200 medley relay as Indiana took a 179-121 win at Purdue last Saturday. Her time of 53.73 in the 100 backstroke, as well as her mark of 1:55.48 in the 200 backstroke were both NCAA provisional qualifying times. She has the top times in the Big Ten this season in both events.
The freshman capped off her day with a win in the 200-yard individual medley, clocking in at 2:03.50. She also led off the winning 200 medley relay team, which finished in 1:41.67.
The Hoosier women wrap up the dual meet season for 2012-13 this Friday as they travel to No. 18 Louisville.
