WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
Indiana University junior diver Darian Schmidt has punched his ticket to the NCAA Championships, placing second on the 1-meter springboard at the NCAA Zone C Championships in West Lafayette, Ind.
Competition continues through Saturday. Nine men and women's divers will earn spots at the NCAA Championships. Tomorrow's action includes the women's 1-meter and the men's three meter. Both will compete on the platform Saturday.
Schmidt tallied 778.95 points through semifinals and finals on the 1-meter springboard. The top three finishers in today's event were guaranteed a spot at the NCAA meet, with Kentucky's Greg Ferrucci finishing first and Ohio State's Shane Miszkiel third.
Junior Emad Abdelatif placed fourth with a score of 752.00.
