Miller Places 6th on Day 2 of Phillips 66 US Swimming Nationals

INDIANAPOLIS - Senior Cody Miller advanced to the championship final of the 200-meter breaststroke to highlight day two of action for Indiana University swimmer at the 2012 Phillips 66 US Swimming Nationals at the IU Natatorium/IUPUI Sports Complex in Indianapolis.
Miller touched the wall sixth in the championship final of the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:12.91. Miller qualified for the championship final of the 200-meter breaststroke after placing sixth in the prelims with a time of 2:13.14.
Senior James Wells placed 15th overall in the 200-meter backstroke, taking seventh in the consolation final with a time of 2:01.55. Wells was 16th after morning prelims, swimming a 2:13.14 in the early session.
Junior Steve Schmuhl pulled a double, finishing 20th in the prelims of the 200-meter freestyle (1:50.91) and 21st in the prelims of the 200-meter backstroke (2:02.59). Schmuhl elected not to swim the bonus final in either event.
For the women, Senior Lindsay Vrooman and sophomore Haley Lips were back in the pool for the second-straight day, with Vrooman finishing 27th in the 200-meter freestyle (2:02.22) and Lips 33rd (2:02.78).
Competition runs through Saturday, with Thursday's schedule featuring Miller in the 400-meter individual medley and 50-meter breaststroke, Schmuhl in the 400 IM, Lips in the 100-meter butterfly and Wells in the 50-meter backstroke.
