    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Incoming Indiana University freshman Grace Padget (Terre Haute, Ind./South Vigo) has been named to the 2012-13 USA Swimming Scholastic All-America Team.

    Each year, USA Swimming recognizes its members who excel both in the classroom and in the pool. The Scholastic All-America Team is made up of high school student-athletes who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and who have achieved the required time standard in a single event.

    To be eligible for this recognition, swimmers must have completed 10th, 11th or 12th grade and must be a USA Swimming member athlete. Eligible times must be swum between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013.

    Padget qualified for the award in the 100 backstroke. She was a four-year IHSAA state meet qualifier at South Vigo, placing 14th in the 100 butterfly and 16th in the 100 backstroke at the 2013 championship. She is a three-time Wabash Valley Female Swimmer of the Year honoree by the Terre Haute Tribune-Star and holds school records in the 100 backstroke and 200 medley relay.
