BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Led by top-eight finishes from Cody Miller and Eric Ress, the Hoosiers completed day two of competition at the USA Swimming U.S. Open in Indianapolis.

Miller finished fourth overall in the 200-meter breaststroke and second among collegians with a time of 2:11.72. Teammate Sam Trahin was 13th overall with his time of 2:15.88 in the consolation final.

Ress touched the wall third overall in the 200-meter backstroke, posting a time of 1:58.42. Steve Schmuhl advanced to the consolation final where he finished 16th (2:07.44). James Wells was 24th after finishing the bonus final in 2:04.81.

In the women's 400-meter freestyle, Lindsay Vrooman was 14th (4:16.80), while James Barbiere was 10th (3:55.24) and Ryan Hinshaw 24th (4:01.06) in the men's race.

On Tuesday, Schmuhl was 10th in the 200-meter butterfly (2:00.73) and Vrooman 10th in the 800-meter freestyle (8:46.14).

Competition continues through Saturday at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis. The meet serves as a selection event for USA Swimming's representatives at the 2013 World University Games in Kazan, Russia.
