Hoosiers Advance in Synchro Events at USA Diving Nationals

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Senior Darian Schmidt led the way as a top synchro qualifier on the 3-meter springboard to highlight day four of the AT&T National Diving Championships in Iowa City, Iowa.
Schmidt teamed up with Michael Hixon to take first in the 3-meter springboard synchro prelims as the duo put up a score of 398.07. The event final will take place Sunday. On the women's side, senior Kate Hillman and recent graduate Amy Cozad finished eighth in the preliminary round, tallying 238.08 points.
Cozad and Hillman also advanced to the synchro platform final, placing second in prelims with a score of 256.80. That final will also take place on Sunday. In the men's competition, senior Conor Murphy and graduate Casey Johnson were third with 305.88 points. Junior Danton Rogers and sophomore Andrew Hull were fourth with 269.40 points.
Schmidt is back in action Saturday with the 3-meter springboard final, while Hillman and Cozad will compete in the platform final.
