BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University sophomore swimmer Cynthia Pammett missed out on the first week of classes last week but for a good reason; Pammett was representing her native Canada at the Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Honolulu, Hawaii.

In the 100-meter backstroke, Pammett placed eighth with a time of 1:03.60. She placed seventh in prelims, clocking in at 1:03.14. In the 100 freestyle she finished 11th overall at 56.47.

In Saturday's 200-meter backstroke competition, Pammett posted her second top-eight finish, placing eighth in a time of 2:16.47. Pammett was also eighth in the prelim round (2:15.38).

In the final day of competition on Sunday, Pammett touched the wall in 2:22.03 in the 200-meter individual medley, good for 13th overall.

Pammett and the Hoosiers begin the 2012-13 season on Friday, Oct. 19 with a double dual meet against Kentucky and Tennessee in Lexington, Ky.
