IU Women's Swimming Heads to SMU Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's swimming team heads to Dallas, Texas this weekend to take part in the SMU Classic.
The unique six-team event will take place starting at 7:30 p.m. ET Friday and Saturday. Joining the Hoosiers and Mustangs in the field are Louisville, Miami, North Carolina and USC.
Friday's events are the 400 medley relay, 400 individual medley, 200 freestyle, 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke and 800 free relay. Saturday features the 200 medley relay, 500 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 butterfly, 200 individual medley and 200 free relay.
The total squad for each team can only be eight swimmers. A swimmer may enter three events per day, but one of those must be a relay. Each team enters one swimmer per heat, and the top swimmer but be in the championship heat.
The Hoosiers are 1-1 on the season, splitting on their opening weekend with a win over Notre Dame and a loss to Auburn. The Hoosiers will return to the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center on Oct. 25-26 as they play host to Michigan and Texas.
