    Loukas Earns Spot on World Cup Team

    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Former Indiana University NCAA Champion Christina Loukas was edged out for the national title in the women's 3-meter springboard but still earned a spot on the U.S. World Cup team at the 2012 USA Diving Winter Nationals in Knoxville, Tenn.

    Loukas and Cassidy Krug battled back and forth in the 3-meter final, with Krug edging Loukas by 1.35 points, 1046.35-1054.00. Both women will represent the United States in the event at the 2012 FINA World Cup, Feb. 20-26 in London.

    The men's platform quarterfinals were also contested, with sophomore Conor Murphy finishing 11th (360.20), and junior Mick Dell'Orco 28th (262.00).

    Murphy finished 11th in the men's platform competition to cap off the final day of the 2012 USA Diving Winter Nationals in Knoxville Tenn.

    Murphy tallied 360.20 points in the quarterfinals, good for 11th place. He remained in the 11th spot after the semifinal round, posting a score of 350.90. He ended the competition in 11th place, with a total score of 1071.60 after a tally of 360.50 in the final round.

    Loukas teamed up with Cassidy Krug to finish second in the 3-meter springboard synchro final. Abby Johnston and Kelci Bryant won the event at the World Cup slot, edging out Loukas and Krug, 651.60-638.82.

    Senior Gabby Agostino and junior Logan Kline also competed in the synchro event, finishing eighth (496.29).

    Indiana will be well represented at the 2012 FINA World Cup, Feb. 20-26 in London. Junior Amy Cozad and sophomore Laura Ryan will represent the U.S. in the synchro platform event, while Loukas earned a spot in the 3-meter springboard.
