HAMILTON, Ohio - The Indiana University women's tennis team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 4-3 road victory at Miami (OH) Saturday morning. The Hoosiers won four of six singles contests to take the match.
Senior captain Lindsey Stuckey and sophomore transfer Evgeniya Vertesheva tallied their third doubles win in as many matches this spring, topping Anastasia Dracheva and Brintney Larson by an 8-6 score. The RedHawks took the other two doubles matches and the early 1-0 lead on the team scoreboard, however.
After winning three of the first five completed singles matches, the team score was locked at 3-3. It all came down to sophomore Megan Matter and the No. 6 singles match. In the end, the Leawood, Kan., native pulled through for her Hoosiers in a 6-4, 6-3 win that handed the Cream and Crimson a 4-3 victory and a 3-0 season record.
This was just the first match of the day for the Hoosiers as they also travel to Muncie, Ind., to face the Ball State Cardinals in a Saturday night showdown.
