Kauss gave up just one game to Caitlin O'Gara, 6-1, 6-0, in the No. 3 match. Garre won at No. 4 over Cincinnati's Katya Bure, 6-3, 6-2. Murdy rebounded from a first set defeat to take down Lauren Bellinger in the No. 5 position, 2-6, 6-1, (10-5).
Gutierrez was dominant in her No. 6 singles match as she won 6-0, 6-0 over Hannah Wille.
"It was good start for us, winning two on the road," head coach Lin Loring said. "We didn't play our best tennis. But the courts were fast and we had to learn to adjust. It was a long day, playing a double header on the road and I felt we did a good job keeping our energy up."
The Hoosiers will host Eastern Kentucky on Sunday, Jan. 26. The match will begin at Noon ET inside the IU Tennis Center.
