BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 50 Indiana women's tennis team kept its perfect dual start intact with a pair of wins at the IU Tennis Center on Sunday. The Hoosiers topped both Western Michigan and Butler by margins of 7-0.
Against WMU, IU cruised in doubles, giving up just one game in each of three matches. Indiana's Shannon Murdy and Alecia Kauss started things with an 8-1 win at No. 3 over Maggie Remynse and Kelsey King of Western Michigan. Leslie Hureau and Sophie Garre clinched the doubles point for Indiana with a win over the Bronco duo of Jill Pastunink and Nini Sujashvili in the No. 1 match, 8-1. Carolyn Chupa and Katie Klyczek also won in doubles at No. 2.
Singles was much of the same. Murdy won the first match for IU at No. 6, dropping only two games, 6-2, 6-0. Hureau made quick work of WMU's Sujashvili in the No. 1 position, 6-1, 6-2. Klyczek gave Indiana the team win with her 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Hawkins.
The Hoosiers used momentum from the first match and took that into the second one of the day against Butler. Again, IU dominated in doubles winning all three matches by a wide margin to take the first point.
