WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Indiana University women's tennis team picked up a 5-2 road victory at Wake Forest on Sunday. Indiana's season record is now 7-1.

"It was a great college match," said Head Coach Lin Loring. "Both teams were at about 70 percent. We both had injured players out and we had two players with food poisoning. One being Myriam. She played a gutsy match."

"And then Charlotte played her first match since October 10th. We found a way to win."

The day began with Lindsey Stuckey and Evgeniya Vertesheva earning their seventh doubles victory of the spring already, topping Aileen Davis and Katarina Reveche 8-2. Their win clinched the doubles point for IU as Wake Forest was forced to forfeit the third doubles match with only five healthy players on the roster.

With a forfeit at No. 6 doubles, the Hoosiers needed to win just two other singles contests to take the match. Indiana did more than that though, taking three of the remaining five singles matches.

The Cream and Crimson won No. 3, 4 and 5 singles to secure the 5-2 triumph. Myriam Sopel downed her opponent in straight sets while Lindsey Stuckey and Charlotte Martin each battled back from opening-set losses to win in a third set.

Stuckey and Martin not only rebounded from the early deficits, but they each cruised in the final set, winning 6-1.
