Hoosiers Top No. 34 DePaul, 7-0

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana returned to its home turf and picked up a 7-0 win over No. 34 DePaul on Saturday afternoon in Bloomington. The No. 47 Hoosiers dropped just one doubles match to start the day before winning in every match thereafter to take the clean sweep.
In doubles play to begin the day, No. 55 Katarina Milinkovic and Gia McKnight defeated Kayla Fujimoto and Evgeniya Vertesheva of IU at the No. 1 spot, 8-3. But Katya Zapadalova and Charlotte Martin cruised in the No. 3 position for the Hoosiers, 8-2, to even things. Leslie Hureau and Myriam Sopel clinched the doubles point for Indiana with an 8-4 victory at No. 2.
In singles action, Indiana had the upper hand from the start. Sopel set the tone for the Hoosiers dominating her match at No. 6 in straight sets without relinquishing a game, 6-0, 6-0. Fujimoto followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5. At No. 2, Vertesheva clinched the team victory with a 6-3, 6-3 winning score. Martin then added to Indiana's strong singles performance with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at No. 4. Zapadalova wrapped up the match with a win playing No. 3 that took a tiebreaker to decide things, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
"It's nice to get a win over a ranked team that has beaten us the last two years," Head Coach Lin Loring said. "We still need to improve our doubles, but we are playing very solid in singles. This was a good win for us."
The Hoosiers will welcome Cleveland State on Sunday to Bloomington. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m. at the IU Tennis Center.
