Indiana Falls To Tennessee, 7-0
Feb. 24, 2007
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 29 Indiana Hoosiers fell on the road, 7-0, to No. 23 Tennessee on Saturday, Feb. 24.
The Hoosiers fall to 9-3 with the loss, while Tennessee raises its record to 5-1.
"We were very competitive today, especially in singles," head coach Lin Loring said. "We went the distance in four of the singles matches and were right in there. They'll probably be in the top 15 in the next tennis rankings. So far our only losses are on the road to teams in the top 25. I'm happy with the way we are playing."
At No. 1 singles, sophomore Alba Berdala took No. 21 Blakeley Griffith to three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Junior Brianna Williams played two tiebreakers in a three-set match with Caitlin Whoriskey at No. 4, falling 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 7-6 (7-2). Senior Cecile Perton lost her second match of the dual-match season in singles at No. 5 to Samantha Orlin, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 1-0 (8).
