March 30, 2014
MINNESOTA, Minn. - The No. 35 Indiana women's tennis team fell on the road on Sunday to Big Ten foe No. 63 Minnesota, 5-2.
Indiana won the first doubles match at No. 3 as Sophie Garre and Shannon Murdy downed Aria Lambert and Maja Vujic of Minnesota, 8-1. Minnesota evened things with a win at No. 2 doubles, but IU's Carolyn Chupa and Katie Klyczek won at No. 1 to clinch the doubles point for the Hoosiers.
In singles, Minnesota set the tone with Tereza Brichacova's 6-4, 6-1 triumph over IU's Klyczek at No. 1 to get the Gophers on the board. That started a downward spiral for the Hoosiers.
The Gophers went on to win matches at No. 4, No. 5, No. 3 and No. 6 to take the 5-2 victory.
Garre picked up Indiana's second point of the day with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 victory at No. 2 over Minnesota's Natallia Pintusava.
