No. 48 Indiana Gets Senior Day win Over No. 67 Michigan State

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 48 Indiana Hoosiers defeated to the No. 67 Michigan State Spartans 6-1 on senior day at the IU Varsity Tennis Courts.
In doubles, IU (18-8, 6-5) took the No. 2 match early when Sophie Garre and Shannon Murdy defeated Michigan State's Julianne Gruber and Emily Meyers. The Spartans would take the No. 3 match in the tiebreaker round, 8-7 (7-1). It came down to the No. 1 match, a thriller that IU's Carolyn Chupa and Katie Klyczek managed to win in the tiebreaker round to earn the first point of the match over Michigan State's Marina Bohrer and Erin Faulkner, 8-7 (7-4).
In singles, Indiana took the second point of the match early when Shannon Murdy defeated Emily Meyers in the No. 4 match, 6-3, 6-1. In match No. 6, Michigan State's Athena Trouillot then earned the Spartans their first point, defeating Gabrielle Rubenstein 6-2, 6-2.
Alecia Kauss extended the IU lead to 3-1 with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Catherine Parenteau in the No. 3 match. That was followed with a win by IU's Sophie Garre, who bounced back after losing the first set of the No. 2 match to defeat Michigan State's Erin Faulkner, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, clinching the victory for the Hoosiers.
The final two matches went to the third set, as IU's Paul Gutierrez and Katie Klyczek finished the match off with Hoosier victories.
Indiana begins the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday, April 24 in Evanston, Ill.
