April 23, 2011
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana fell at home on Saturday afternoon to No. 62 Ohio State, 5-2. Leslie Hureau and Evgeniya Vertesheva picked up victories playing at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, for the Hoosiers, but the Buckeyes controlled the rest of the match.
The day began with OSU sweeping all three doubles matches to jump out to a 1-0 lead and setting the tone for the rest of the day.
No. 115 Vertesheva continued her recent stellar play with a dominant win over Ohio State's Kelsey Haviland, 6-3, 6-0, in the No. 2 match. That makes it five-straight wins in Big Ten play for Vertesheva and improves her conference record to 7-2 on the season.
No. 62 Hureau picked up Indiana's second point of the afternoon with a 6-3, 6-2, straight set win at No. 1. IU's Kayla Fujimoto also played well as she went the distance in the No. 5 match before falling just short to OSU's Fidan Manashirova, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4.
