Indiana Cruises Past Wisconsin in Big Ten Tournament

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The sixth-seeded Indiana women's tennis team topped the 11th-seeded Wisconsin Badgers on Thursday afternoon in the Big Ten Tournament, 4-0. The Hoosiers move on to the tourney quarterfinals to take on third-seeded Northwestern on Friday at 2 p.m. ET.
IU came out strong earning the doubles point right away. At No. 1, Leslie Hureau and Carolyn Chupa took down UW's Hannah Berner and Lauren Chypyha, 8-4. Indiana's Alecia Kauss and Shannon Murdy then made quick work of Wisconsin's Katie Hoch and Anastasia Tripolskaya in the No. 2 position to clinch the doubles point for the Hoosiers, 8-2.
Singles was much of the same for Indiana. At No. 1, Hureau dominated Wisconsin's Berner in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, to give IU a two-point edge. The No. 3 match finished just seconds later as Chupa rolled past Tripolskaya in consecutive sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Indiana's Kauss then clinched the win for Indiana in the No. 4 position. Kauss defeated Lauren Burich while giving up just two games, 6-1, 6-1.
The Hoosiers will take the court on Friday, April 26 in the afternoon, but quarterfinal play will begin at 10 a.m. ET at the IU Varsity Tennis Courts.
