IU Women's Tennis with a Big Final Day of the Hoosier Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The third and final day of the 2013 Hoosier Classic concluded for the Indiana women's tennis team on Sunday afternoon. The event was moved indoors with the rain in Bloomington as only singles matches were played. IU picked up seven wins in singles on the day.
In her first weekend back in a year, Kayla Fujimoto was victorious again on Sunday with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Cincinnati's Sierra Sullivan. Alecia Kauss cruised again with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Kansas State's Maria Panaite.
Shannan Murdy also picked up a Hoosier win as she topped UC's Ashleigh Witte, 0-6, 6-2, 1-0 (5). Katie Klyczek kept her perfect weekend intact in convincing fashion with a 6-1, 6-1 romp of WMU's Kathleen Hawkins.
Other Hoosiers earning wins on the day were Gabrielle Rubenstein, as she topped UC's Lauren Bellinger 7-5, 7-6 (5), and Sophie Garre. Garre edged Kelly Poggensee-Wei of Cincinnati, 6-4, 6-2. Carolyn Chupa also won as she outlasted Eastern Michigan's Anikita Bahatia in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.
The Hoosiers will next take to the courts for a tournament at Vanderbilt on Oct. 11-13.
