McGaffigan, Williams Have Strong Doubles Showing at Hoosier Classic

"Overall, we played well today," head coach Lin Loring said. "We started a little slow in doubles and that's what we want to try to correct in tomorrow's matches."
The duo of McGaffigan and Williams reached the semifinals of the doubles bracket with two wins. They first defeated Renee Joseph and Tatiana Feit of Mississippi State, 8-6, then earned a hard-fought 9-7 victory over Colleen Reilley and Kali Krisik of Notre Dame.
In the backdraw, sophomore Sigrid Fischer and senior Cecile Perton also defeated Joseph and Feit, 8-3. In their first match of the day, they lost a tough match to Rachael Lask and Anna Lask of Murray State, 9-8 (3).
In singles action, Fischer defeated Rachael Lask of Murray State, 6-1, 6-2, in the consolation round of flight `B.'
Freshman Erin Clark earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Lyndsey Bochenek of Murray State in round robin play to finish the Hoosier Classic undefeated in singles.
McGaffigan earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Adriana Alvarez of Murray State, while sophomore Alba Berdala defeated Angela McGahee of Murray State, 6-2, 6-0.
In the final of flight `D,' sophomore Stephanie Heller fell 6-2, 6-3 to Adrienne Elsberry of Georgia. Perton also lost in singles, 6-4, 6-0, to Katie Potts of Notre Dame. Freshman Lindsey Stuckey dropped a 6-2, 6-3 match to Kali Krisik of Notre Dame.
The tournament wraps up tomorrow with the completion of doubles action. Complete results will be posted on IUHOOSIERS.com at the end of the day.
