    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's tennis team is ranked 29th in the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division I Rankings for the 2005 spring season. Senior Dora Vastag also rests among the top players in the country according to the first national player rankings released on Tuesday morning.

    Vastag ranks 91st in the country among all Division I women's players. The Okemos, Mich., product also carries a Midwest Region ranking of 12th into the spring campaign.

    Stanford begins the year in the top spot after garnering all 29 first-place votes for a total of 1,575 points. Florida is second (1,540), followed by Clemson (1,538), UCLA (1,530) and Northwestern (1,529) to round out the top-five.

    Michigan is the second Big Ten team ranked among the elite, 20th overall with 1,269 points, while the Hoosiers stand third among conference squads with 1,079 points.

    IU will open its spring slate on Saturday, Jan. 22, at home against DePaul and Ball State. The Hoosiers will play DePaul at 9:30 a.m., and Ball State at 2:30 p.m., in the IU Tennis Center.
