Vertesheva Named Big Ten Women's Tennis Player of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Sophomore Evegniya Vertesheva was named the Big Ten Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday (Jan. 26) after posting a 4-0 record over the weekend.
In Indiana's matches against Miami (OH) and Ball State, Vertesheva dropped just five games and won both of her singles matches in straight sets. She knocked off Miami's Stephanie Danesis, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, then Ball State's Hayley Hall, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1 singles. Also, the sophomore paired with teammate Lindsey Stuckey and defeated Miami, 8-6, at No. 2 doubles and Ball State, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles to help the Hoosiers to a 2-0 weekend.
Vertesheva is now 15-2 overall in singles play while posting a doubles mark of 9-6 in her first season as a Hoosier.
