    Women Face Miami of Ohio and Akron At Home

    On Tap: The Hooisers will see their homecourt for the first time this season, as they face Ball State and Miami of Ohio on Saturday. The matches will take place at the Indiana University Tennis Center, with Indiana facing Ball State at 9:30 in the morning, then returning at 2:30 in the afternoon to face Miami of Ohio.

    Last Week: The Hoosiers began there dual match season last weekend with wins over Western Michigan and Akron in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Hooisers first defeated Western Michigan 5-2, before winning 7-0 over Akron. Jessica Anderson and Amanda Field increased their doubles record to 14-4, with two wins. Karie Schlukebir made her homecoming worthwhile three wins, two in singles play and another in doubles.

    Recapping the Fall: The Hoosiers had a strong fall season led by junior Jessica Anderson. Anderson (13-3 singles, 12-4 doubles) finished the fall with a win in the consolation draw at the ITA Midwest Region Championships. She overcame a loss in the first round of the main draw, to win five straight matches in the consolation.

    Recapping Last Year: After finishing the Big Ten season with a 6-4 record , and a sixth seed in the Big Ten Tournament, the Hoosiers regained top form as they went on to win the Big Ten Tournament. The Big Ten Championship was their first in the last three years and their 15th since 1980. The season came to an end, however, in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Midwest Regionals, as they lost to the Regional top-seed UCLA. The Hoosiers ended their year with a 17-11 overall record, with a 11-4 Big Ten record and a #35 national ranking.

    Head Coach Lin Loring: Loring is entering his 22nd season as the Head Coach of the Hoosiers Women's Tennis team. In his 21 seasons, he has compiled a remarkable overall record of 252-130, while accumulating a 252-23 record against Big Ten opponents. The 4 time Big Ten Coach-of-the-Year and the 2 time National Coach-of -the-Year, has compiled a 563-147 overall record in his 25 year coaching career. Prior to Indiana, coach Loring had a 4 year stint as head coach at UC-Santa Barbara.

    Upcoming Matches: After this weekend, the Hooisers will step on the court from February 4 to February 7. That weekend they will take part in the ITA/Rolex Indoor Nationals in Dallas, Texas.
