    INDIANA STAYS CONSISTENT AT VIRGINIA TECH

    Blacksburg, VA-- Once again, the women's tennis team played well in the second day of the Virginia Tech Invitational by going 4-2 in singles against Pennsylvania and 3-0 in doubles against Virginia Tech. Head Coach Lin Loring commented, "I'm very pleased with the way we are playing. We're 6-0 in doubles and 8-4 in singles." Singles winners for Indiana included Zahra Ahamed, Jessica Anderson, Kelly Blanch, and Correne Stout.

    Ahamed, won her 11th consecutive match to put her record at 12-2. She defeated Karen Ridley in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, and 7-6(3). Stout, playing at number three, improved to a perfect 12-0 with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Lara Afanassiev. Anderson and Blanch won easily at four and five. Anderson beat Julia Feldman 6-0, 6-1, and Blanch won 6-0, 6-2 over Elana Gold.

    In doubles, the Hoosiers won all three matches. At number one doubles, Blanch and Stout combined to win, 8-2. At number two, Ana Ceretto and McCarney won 8-2. Anderson and Sharp won at number three, 8-2

    The Virginia Tech Invitational concludes Sunday with the Hoosiers taking on Virginia Tech in singles and South Carolina in doubles. Matches start at 9:00am Sunday morning.
