Atlanta, GA - The 55th-ranked Hoosiers (3-1) lost their first match of the year today to 49th-ranked Georgia Tech 6-3. The Hoosiers won two out of the three doubles matches, but only one singles match.
In doubles, 42nd-ranked Jessica Anderson and Kelly Blanch, playing at No. 1, defeated Sabrina Pardo and Laura Ozolins 8-4. At No. 3, Amanda Field and Zahra Ahamed were victorious over Bobbi Guthrie and Charlotte Pernet 8-5.
In singles, the Hoosiers only win was by freshman Jessica Levin at the No. 5 position. Levin defeated Pernet 4-6,6-0,6-1. Indiana did play close three-set matches at No. 2 and No. 3. At No. 2, Blanch fell to Guthrie 3-6,6-4,6-4 and at No. 3, Ahamed lost to Jaime Wong 6-3,4-6,6-2.
The Hoosiers will be off until February 18 when they will take on Maryland
in Bloomington. That match will start a eight match homestand that will
conclude on March 19.
