    #2 Duke and Clemson Invade Bloomington

    On Tap: After a week off, the women's tennis team returns to action this weekend at home for two matches. The Hoosiers will try to avenge last years loss to Duke, the #2 ranked team in the nation, in Bloomington on Friday at 9 a.m. The Blue Devils, led by #12 ranked Vanessa Webb, have five players in the top 100 in singles and all three doubles teams ranked in the top 50. Last year, Duke defeated the Hoosiers 6-1 in Durham, North Carolina. On Sunday, the women will also try to comeback from last years 5-2 to Clemson, as they face Clemson at 10 a.m.

    Perfect Hoosiers: The Hoosiers raised their their record to 4-0 with two wins on January 30. The Hoosiers defeated Miami (OH) 6-1 in the morning and then defeated Ball State 6-1 in the afternoon.

    Winning Streak: Jessica Anderson has not lost since the ITA Midwest Championships in November. After losing in the first round of the singles draw, Anderson bounced back with five straight wins and she won the consolation round. Overall, she has won her last eight matches, including her three dual matches and has singles record of 16-3. In doubles, she has played along side freshman Amanda Field the entire year. The have posted a team leading 16-4 record and have won their last four matches.

    Recapping the Fall: The Hoosiers had a strong fall season led by junior Jessica Anderson. Anderson (13-3 singles, 12-4 doubles) finished the fall with a win in the consolation draw at the ITA Midwest Region Championships. She overcame a loss in the first round of the main draw, to win five straight matches in the consolation.

    Recapping Last Year: After finishing the Big Ten season with a 6-4 record, and a sixth seed in the Big Ten Tournament, the Hoosiers regained top form as they went on to win the Big Ten Tournament. The Big Ten Championship was their first in the last three years and their 15th since 1980. The season came to an end, however, in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Midwest Regionals, as they lost to the Regional top-seed UCLA. The Hoosiers ended their year with a 17-11 overall record, with a 11-4 Big Ten record and a #35 national ranking.

    Head Coach Lin Loring: Loring is entering his 22nd season as the Head Coach of the Hoosiers Women's Tennis team. In his 21 seasons, he has compiled a remarkable overall record of 252-130, while accumulating a 252-23 record against Big Ten opponents. The 4 time Big Ten Coach-of-the-Year and the 2 time National Coach-of -the-Year, has compiled a 563-147 overall record in his 25 year coaching career. Prior to Indiana, coach Loring had a 4 year stint as head coach at UC-Santa Barbara.
