Women's Tennis Wins Herbert Cup For Third Straight Semester
Feb. 10, 2009
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The IU women's tennis program has earned the Adam Herbert Cup for the fall semester. It marks the third consecutive semester in which women's tennis has taken home the award. The Herbert Cup is awarded to the IU program with the highest overall team GPA.
"We stress academics from day number one of the recruiting process," said Head Coach Lin Loring after the second of three straight Herbert Cups. "Our tradition of success on the court is only surpassed by our tradition of excellence in the classroom. The last 30 years our team GPA has always been in the 3.3 to 3.7 range. The University and our alumni can take pride in our performance on and off the court."
The Hoosiers take a break from their studies and return to the courts on Saturday, Feb. 14 for a home match versus DePaul. That contest is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. inside the IU Tennis Center. Live match updates will be available right here at IUHoosiers.com and can be accessed via the women's tennis schedule page.
