BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's tennis team was honored recently at the IU men's basketball game on Feb. 9 for earning the Herbert Cup for the 2011 fall semester. The Herbert Cup is given each semester to the Hoosier athletic program with highest GPA for that semester.

The IU women's tennis program has won the cup in eight of the nine semesters in which the award has been given, including the last two semesters consecutively. For the fall semester only, the team finished with an impressive collective GPA of 3.632.

"The team is very excited to once again win the Herbert Cup," head coach Lin Loring said. "I am especially pleased because half of the team are freshman. This gets their college career off to a good start."

The team will battle No. 17 Tennessee this Friday at 1:30 p.m. ET at the IU Tennis Center. The Hoosiers will then welcome DePaul on Sunday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. ET.
